Manual shakers or a shaking machine? Plan around the workflow

An automatic shaker is not automatically the best first purchase. The useful question is where mixing sits within your actual service routine.

Observe the whole drink build

Time a representative drink from the order reaching the station to the finished cup. Separate ingredient retrieval, portioning, shaking, topping, sealing, and handoff.

If most time is spent reaching for supplies or resolving unclear orders, a faster shaking cycle will not address the main delay. A better layout or clearer recipe card may be the first improvement.

Compare flexibility with repetition

Manual shakers are flexible and let a small station mix different recipes without machine-specific holders. A machine can help standardize a repeated mixing action when its cup sizes and operating cycle fit the menu.

Check how easily the machine can be loaded, unloaded, cleaned, and serviced. Allow for the operator’s hands-on time rather than comparing only a stated cycle duration.

Keep a practical backup

A pair of suitable manual shakers can be useful even in an automated station. Staff should know the approved manual recipe and cleaning procedure.

Before ordering a machine, confirm cup compatibility, electrical needs, noise, counter space, and maintenance requirements. Request the actual quoted model’s specifications rather than relying on a representative product image.

Make it work for your station.
